Draping, Spring 2022

For my final draping assignment, we were given the task of creating two-piece (minimum) set or a dress. I chose to create a 4 piece set, including two asymmetrical tops, a skirt, and gauntlets. I chose knit fabrics for the tops and gauntlets and a woven fabric for the skirt. For the tops, my professor gave me the challenge of dyeing a white jersey fabric to coordinate with the original colors I envisioned for the project. I also had the pleasure of working with chiffon for the midriff piece and gauntlets, the material was so soft to the touch and with the help of the elastics I used in the top of the gauntlets, the wearer would be able to shift the sleeves higher or lower according to their own preference without having to constantly tug at the gauntlets to keep them in place. the skirt was fully lined and featured a slit on the left side for more range of motion. I love to give myself a challenge, and the asymmetrical tops were the perfect match to help improve my confidence as a designer.
